This page has useful information about the day-to-day running of Year 2 as well as the areas of learning that we will be covering this term.
Miss Chambers (Monday-Thursday) and Mrs Watson (Friday) are the class teachers for Year 2, ably assisted by Mrs Brosnan.
This term our topic is ‘Monarchs and Castles'. We are going to be exploring the question: What is a monarch? In history, we will be learning about the Battle of Hastings and how William the Conqueror ruled England.
The children will be able to apply their historical knowledge in English, where we will be writing biographies on William the Conqueror and King Charles. Following this, we will also be developing our descriptive writing skills. The children will be using skills such as extended noun phrases to write an alternative ending to the book ‘Wild’.
In maths, we will be learning about measurement. The children will also be practicing their arithmetic and problem-solving skills daily.
Children will be given a set of spellings to learn and practice each week. They will be tested on a Friday. Click on the above link for an overview of the words and patterns they will learn throughout the year.
